Freelance Players has received support from numerous individuals, foundations and corporations, and the government since its incorporation in 1977. These institutional supporters currently include Brookline Bank, Corning Incorporated, Foley Hoag LLP, Marianne J.H. Witherby Foundation, and many generous individuals. 

The Massachusetts Cultural Council has provided leadership grants (Education, Endowment, Operating, Organizational) for more than three decades. Many generous individuals respond every year to the annual appeal which supports Freelance programs and the Scholarship fund. The Freelance Players, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
