Overview

The Freelance Troupes engage young people in the production of original musical theater for audiences of all ages. Students acquire skill in acting, singing and dance. Freelance Troupes use theater to foster trust, imagination and self-esteem in young people. Freelance Troupes promote community by building bridges across geographic and socio-economic boundaries in greater Boston.

The Players : for children aged 12 to 16,
meets Wednesdays in Brookline.

The Troupes: for children aged 8 to 12:

  • Charles River Troupe: Meets Mondays in Dover
  • Driscoll Troupe: Meets Fridays in Brookline
  • Footlight Troupe: Meets Tuesdays in Jamaica Plain
  • Heath Troupe: Meets Thursdays in Brookline


  • Story Theater: Classes for children aged 5 to 8, meet Tuesday, Thursday and Friday in Brookline.

    Players/Troupe tuition is $450 per term.

    Story Theater class tuition is $150 per session
    (8 weeks).

    Some financial assistance is available.
